Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Optional Toppings

  • Melted butter (for brushing)
  • Extra condensed milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • Whisk flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.

Combine Wet Ingredients:

  • In another bowl, whisk condensed milk, warm milk, and egg.

Form the Dough:

  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Add softened butter and knead for 10–12 minutes (by hand) or 7–9 minutes (stand mixer) until smooth and elastic.

First Rise:

  • Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled.

Shape the Dough:

  • Punch down dough, divide into 3–4 equal parts, and shape into rolls or place in a greased loaf pan.

Second Rise:

  • Let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.

Bake:

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Internal temperature should reach 190°F (88°C).

Cool & Serve:

  • Brush with melted butter or condensed milk glaze. Cool before slicing.

Notes

  • Dough Too Sticky? Add 1 tbsp flour at a time while kneading.
  • No Yeast Activation Needed: Instant yeast works directly with dry ingredients.
  • Storage:
    • Room temperature (wrapped) for 3 days.
    • Freeze sliced bread for up to 1 month.
  • Variations:
    • Add Nutella, red bean paste, or cheese for stuffed rolls.
    • Use for French toast or bread pudding.
